Mexoxo is a non-profit organization that supports women to achieve their full potential. Believing that education is the tool for growth and change, Mexoxo encourages, enables and facilitates women’s active involvement in business, employment, learning, and community.

OUR HISTORY

The Mexoxo journey started in 2013 in Tijuana Mexico, when Elpida Kokkota, Founder & CEO, made the brave decision to do what she loved and leave behind the Bostonian lifestyle.

The action was fired up by Professor Nobel Laureate M. Yunus, who mentored her vision to help women to achieve socio-economic growth. Two women in Mexico became Mexoxo's first beneficiaries. Commencing Mexoxo's impact they open the road to 500 more women to become entrepreneurs.

Two years later, Elpida officially pledged a commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative to empower and educate 5,000 women by 2020. The mission was fulfilled in 16 countries at the end of 2019.

Mexoxo was nominated by the National Greek Delegation to represent Greece, for the first time in its history, for the "UNESCO Prize for Women's and Girls Education 2020". During its 10 years of operation Mexoxo has achieved to support 142,868+ women directly and 571,472+ women indirectly.

Our vision to democratize education for women globally can only be achieved by addressing the following crucial needs that constitute key barriers to their socioeconomic growth and their emergence from vulnerable situations such as:

Financial Instability

Lack of educational and employment opportunities due to the geographical boundaries and human characteristics

Lack of a gender-specific support network in the professional sphere

Together we inspire, aspire, enrich women's capacity, education and network, to lead their lives with freedom, independence, economic stability and thus, become capable to neutralize any type of discrimination. Empowering women is a clear path to influence real change and equal long-term wealth on a global scale.

MEET

We enable women to meet mentors, opinion leaders and other women to collaborate and grow their economic capacity. Women become the force of each other.

MASTER

We offer online education from top academic institutions. Women can attend experts' lectures from around the world, test their knowledge through interactive quizzes and acquired educational certifications that will help them master their careers and their entrepreneurial journeys.

MANIFEST

We help women to manifest and discover their self-power, build resilience to keep walking towards achieving their dreams and feel the assurance that they can succeed. Dedicated videos, lectures from role models and assessment tests leads them in their empowerment journey.

VULNERABLE

We support women in societies where social norms and values are biased in favor of men. They are deprived of many privileges such as rights, education, healthcare, parental property rights, and social status.

We support teenage girls to build confidence, discover their talents, and envision their future by teaching them entrepreneurship, leadership, and soft skills.

A Tribute to Black History Month

We say in Africa that as long as the lion does not tell its own story, the hunter will. Thus, my small contribution to honor Black History. Black History goes as far back as the cradle of mankind hundreds of thousands of years ago in the highlands of Ethiopia so of course a month is not enough to celebrate it. Black is a noun, also an adjective, and holds so many meanings ranging from mystery to power. I am proud to be black.

Mexoxo is an organization that sees this power and has invested in me by offering opportunities to broaden my horizons through courses not only in IT and Project Management but also in many more subjects. Mexoxo is a sisterhood that embraces diversity and builds a network for women where growth is enhanced and doors opened to an unfathomable future.

My goal for 2022 was to Work in Tech, and that's why I joined the Women In Tech program. I knew it would be difficult to start because I didn't have any idea how it works. Thanks to Mexoxo, I learned that working in tech doesn't mean only writing code instead, it means working in technical support, STEM education, consulting, or marketing. With the IT Certification, I made a step closer to my goal, but the only limit was in my mind and to break the ceiling. To surround myself with women power and determined to work for my dream.

It was the reason that recently, I joined a tech requirement start-up company with offices in Amsterdam and Greece. My role there is Tech Resourcing Consultant and the HR manager told me, he appreciates that I have a recent certification in the IT field, and that made me stand out.

I am very happy to have been working there and I think I have many chances for the career path I am dreaming of.

Mexoxo was the reason I met Marianna, my new friend in my life, and I am truly grateful for that and also connecting with various personalities and being part of the circle of impact of Mexoxo. I was impressed when we met in an online scheduled team meeting. I was impressed by her courage and her energy to do a lot of things at the same time and I was admiring her for all the things she had accomplished so far. She is very supportive and refuses to give up. I know that she has limitless capabilities and never gives up and I'm looking forward to what the future brings her and I know she's always there for me when I need her.

I am glad that through an educational program of Mexoxo I met Vasiliki. She is a great person, and I am so happy I had the chance to meet her and “share vibes” as we like to say. She is there when I need her and she helps me stay focused on my goals. Vasiliki helped me go through hard times and she is the one that gave me the push I needed to decide to take a ten month long seminar on Business Administration. She is a vibrant person, full of energy and joy and she was always with a big smile on her face.
